Accessibility at Offroad RGV

This site aims to be usable by as many readers as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, larger text or reduced-motion settings.

What we do

The pages are built with a clear heading order, readable type and a color palette chosen so text meets contrast guidance on every background. Interactive elements can be reached and operated by keyboard, focus is visible, and motion is reduced automatically when a reader asks their device for less of it. Fonts and layout are set so the pages stay legible when text is enlarged.

  • Headings and landmarks in a logical order
  • Color contrast checked against the backgrounds
  • Keyboard-reachable links, buttons and fields
  • Visible focus and reduced-motion support
  • Layouts that survive larger text

Images and media

Photographs and illustrations carry descriptive alternative text so a reader who cannot see them still learns what each shows, from a beach access ramp to a small sabal grove. Decorative images are marked so they do not clutter a screen reader. Where a photo conveys real information, such as the look of soft sand or a closed lane, the description says so in plain words.

Forms and communication

Every form field is labelled, so it is clear what to type before you start, and error messages will tell you plainly what needs fixing. If you would rather not use a form, or if a form is a barrier for you, describe what you need by another route and we will do our best to help. We would rather adapt the channel than lose the reader.

Known limits and how to tell us

We are honest that no site is perfect, and some third-party pieces we rely on may sit outside our full control. When we find a barrier we try to remove it or replace it. If you hit one, name the page and what happened, and we will look. Feedback is not a complaint to us; it is the fastest route to a fix, and it helps every reader who comes after you.

  • Name the page and the problem
  • Tell us what you were trying to do
  • Say which device or tool you were using

Continuing to improve

Accessibility is an ongoing practice rather than a one-time pass. As the site grows with new destinations and guides, each addition is built the same way, with the same contrast, focus and labelling habits applied from the start. If a future change ever lowers the bar, we want to know, because a guide that leaves some Valley readers behind has failed at the one thing it is here to do.
